Capital Procurement Projects Testimonials
Working with APUC has many advantages, including access to unique, free of charge support for capital procurement projects. But don't just take APUC's word for it; see what some of our institutions have to say below.
A tailored service providing excellent value
"Building a completely new campus creates challenges on a scale that most colleges are not used to. When it came to procurement of capital equipment we realised that we needed external support to guide us through this complex process", said Jim Godfrey, Head of Finance for Dumfries and Galloway College. "We were therefore very grateful that the Capital Projects team of APUC were able to help. The service they provided was tailored to our needs and ensured that the process we followed was fully compliant with legislation and best practice.
"We were also very pleased with the outcomes we achieved. Not only did we realise savings, compared to our budget, but we didn't have to compromise on quality. In short, we are very pleased that the process delivered excellent value."
Flourishing growth on Skye
Allan Doyle, Captial Procurement Specialist, supported Sabhal Mor Ostaig with its project to furnish and equip the beautiful new FAS building on Skye. The FAS centres (Gaelic for growth) is the college's new £8 million purpose-built centre for creative and cultural industries. The project was made possible with funding from Highlands and Islands Enterprise, the European Regional Development Fund, Highland Council and Highland 2007, the Scottish Government and UHI Millenium Institute.
Thanks to APUC support, and, in particular, to Allan's expertise, the college has stretched the project budget by well over 25%. Domhnall Angaidh MacIllinnein, Commercial Director at Sabhal Mor Ostaig, said: "The college is very pleased with the support APUC offered throughout the procurement process and delighted with the budget stretch which the collaboration has achieved."
Sourcing equipment and delivering efficiency savings
South Lanarkshire College's exciting campus project combined three campuses into one new purpose-built campus, with efficiently-sourced materials and equipment. APUC's Capital Procurement Specialist, Allan Doyle, worked closely with the college to develop a furniture, fittings and equipment (FFE) project plan for the new purpose-built campus.
The college's Depute Principal, Angus Allan, was pleased with the results: "APUC's procurement expertise and support has allowed us to put in place procurement processes that we'll continue to use to attain best value in purchasing. Our partnership with APUC has helped deliver an impressive stretch of around 12% to our original FFE budget."
