e-Procurement
Overview
eProcurement allows buyers and suppliers access to a common platform for tendering and transacting online. APUC is rolling out the Scottish Government’s award-winning eProcurement Scotl@nd (ePS) service to institutions.
By summer 2008, APUC's ePS team facilitated access for small institutions to create orders from online catalogues using PECOS. Although this was initially a limited capacity; a number of instutions have been developed and extended to full implementations and this continues in 2010 in both large and small institutions.
Benefits to institutions
Using a common platform creates efficiencies in process and time, and also helps to keep costs down. Further benefits to institutions of the ePS service include:
- ePS has a well-tested track record, having processed a massive £2.2 billion in transactions for this calendar year up to September.
- PECOS is user-friendly, flexible and fast and can be integrated directly with your finance system.
- Purchasing patterns can be tracked and analysed to inform future decisions to further increase efficiencies.
Benefits to suppliers
- ePS is well-established and the technology has proven to be robust.
- Designed to support transactions with any supplier, from small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) to multinational organisations.
- A more efficient, single interface with access to all institutions (and the wider public sector) by registering once.
